AvailableHow to protect a recording with a PIN or biometrics
In short: set a PIN of 4 to 8 digits, then tap “Protect” on a recording. It will be hidden in the list and open only with the PIN or biometrics.
What it is
Protection hides chosen conversations. In the list you see hidden placeholders instead of details, and to listen, share or delete such a recording you must enter the PIN or confirm with your fingerprint or face.
How to use it
- Open “Settings → Protected recordings”.
- Tap “Set PIN” and enter 4 to 8 digits, then repeat them.
- If you like, turn on “Biometric unlock”. The PIN always stays as a fallback. If biometrics are not set up on your phone, the app will tell you.
- Open a recording and tap “Protect”.
What happens
- The recording is hidden in the list.
- When you open it you will be asked to “Unlock recordings”.
- After unlocking, recordings stay available while you are in the app (up to 5 minutes), then lock again.
- To remove protection, open the recording and tap “Remove protection”.
- Audio files are not changed: protection only affects how recordings are shown and accessed inside RecUmi Calls.
Forgot your PIN?
Tap “Forgot PIN?” and confirm it is you with your phone’s code, pattern or password. Recordings are not deleted or changed. If your phone has no screen lock at all, the PIN cannot be reset, so first turn on a screen lock in the system settings.
Tip
Do not write your PIN in a note on the same phone.
Privacy
The PIN and fingerprint check happen on your phone. They are not sent anywhere.
