Contact channels: regular calls and messengers

In short: RecUmi Calls records regular (cellular) calls. RecUmi Calls includes recording of WhatsApp calls. How the feature works depends on the device, the Android version and WhatsApp. Recording of both sides is not guaranteed. We recommend checking the result with a test call. Telegram, Viber, MAX and WeChat are still being tested, so they are not guaranteed to work yet.

Which channels

  • Available: regular (cellular) calls and WhatsApp calls. Recording of cellular calls and WhatsApp calls was tested on a test build of RecUmi Calls. The result depends on the device and the Android version. The public version requires a separate check.
  • Being tested: Telegram, Viber, MAX and WeChat. They are not guaranteed to work yet.

If a call was recorded but its channel was not recognized, it appears as "Internet call".

Where the name comes from

For messenger calls RecUmi can take the name or number of the other person from the call notification. This needs notification access (turned on in Android settings). RecUmi uses only call notifications of messengers and does not read your chats.

If access is not granted, or a messenger changes its notification, the call is still recorded, just without a name.

How to use channels

  • Filter by channel: see "How filters work". A channel appears in the filter row only if you have calls on it.
  • Reply to the other person in their language: "How to translate and send a message in WhatsApp".

Do not confuse

The channel in the log shows how a past call went. It is not a list of ways to contact a person.
